'SOMEWHERE OTHER' MODEL
Limited Edition Run: Bespoke commission
Materials: Spotted Gum
Applications: Architectural Scale Model
We were commissioned by John Wardle Architect's to produce several scale models of their 2018 Venice Bienale pavilion 'Somewhere Other'. The model is constructed from solid Spotted Gum (to match the full scale pavilion) and it required multiple, custom clamping and cutting jigs to cut and assemble to acute, tapered forms.
"A cantilevered cone at one end of the installation tapers to a viewing portal, one inspired by two very different masks: Venetian carnival masks and the horizontal eye slit in legendary bushranger Ned Kelly’s iron-armour helmet (and through this to Sidney Nolan’s engagement with the Australian landscape)."

'Somewhere Other' was exhibited at The Arsenale in Venice and the NGV Federation Square.
